The water industry, like many others, faces challenges related to an aging workforce. As experienced professionals retire, there is a pressing need to attract and train new talent to ensure the continuity and resilience of water services. Internships provide a pathway for students and young professionals to enter this critical field.
RWA internships offer invaluable hands-on experience that cannot be fully replicated in an academic setting. Interns learn about the daily operations, maintenance, and management of water utilities, gaining insights into the complexities of water treatment, distribution and conservation. This practical exposure helps interns apply theoretical knowledge to real-world situations, enhancing their learning and making them more effective in their future careers.
We have three available internship paths to explore depending on your level of education and your career interests.
During the months of June to August, high school and college students have the opportunity to gain firsthand experience collaborating with seasoned professionals. This program offers exposure to various facets of environmental science, engineering and Human Resources, enabling participants to apply their academic acumen to practical scenarios in the professional realm.
This program will give students the opportunity to enhance their skillset and expand their knowledge through immersive, hands-on experiences, while also gaining insight into our organizational ethos and principles. Our Graduate Development Program Internship, spanning 1-2 years, accommodates both undergraduate and graduate students, enabling them to integrate work experience with their academic pursuits. The program offers a flexible and hybrid work schedule, ensuring students can effectively balance their professional and educational commitments. Our internship opportunities allow students to understand the scope of careers available in the water sector, clarifying their career interests and goals. They can explore different roles within the industry, from engineering and technical positions to regulatory and policy-oriented jobs, helping them make informed decisions about their professional paths. Our programs are essential for preparing the next generation of professionals who will ensure the safe, efficient, and sustainable management of water resources. They bridge the gap between academic education and practical application, fostering innovation, and ensuring a continuous influx of talent into this critical industry.
